Writers and artists are invited to participate in Richardson’s annual MLK essay and Black History Month art contests.
Winning works will be published by the city with winners receiving $100 and certificates of achievement from the mayor and city council.
The essay contest is for students in grades 4 through 12. One entry per student, and essays should not exceed 500 words. The deadline is Jan. 31.
Create a visual image that displays how your unique beliefs and values contribute to our diverse community and help promote inclusion. The art contest is for students in Pre-K through grade 12. One entry per student, and submissions may include two-dimensional or three-dimensional art pieces. Art submissions are open from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28.
