Dr. Stone Named To National Pandemic School Recovery Committee

AASA the School Superintendents Association

RISD Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone has been named to a national committee through AASA, The School Superintendents Association, to develop recommendations and insights for school districts across the country as schools move toward a safe reopening following the impact of the pandemic.

AASA’s American Rescue Plan Committee includes more than 30 superintendents, as well as representatives from several national organizations including the Association of Education Services Agencies, the Association of School Business Officials International and the Council of Chief State School Officers.

“Unlike many school districts nationally, RISD operated in person for the majority of last school year, and I’m pleased to bring the insights and lessons that we learned to other districts that may now be facing many of the questions that we did heading into last school year,” said Stone. “While the student learning loss from the pandemic is real, it is equally important that we focus efforts on relationship loss. Recognizing that the pandemic impacted many students socially and emotionally is critical as we transition everyone back to school.”
