data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a standardized assessment used by Richardson ISD to help identify students who may require gifted and talented services and advanced instructional needs. The CogAT measures a student&#8217;s reasoning and problem-solving abilities in three key domains:\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-44da61e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"44da61e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Verbal: Understanding and reasoning with language<\/li><li>Quantitative: Working with numbers and mathematical relationships<\/li><li>Nonverbal: Problem-solving using shapes and visual patterns<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5063d1b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5063d1b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEach section is timed and measures how students think, process information, and learn. No preparation is needed or recommended.  Using test prep materials may invalidate results.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-97ea98b elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"97ea98b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1bed63f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1bed63f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" id=\"who\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Who takes it\n<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cd367ef elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cd367ef\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRISD uses the CogAT as part of GT identification and qualification across grade levels.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-090eab8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"090eab8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStudents in the grade levels below are universally tested.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a7e486 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9a7e486\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>2nd grade (all learning communities)<\/li><li>5th grade \u2013 Lake Highlands Learning Community<\/li><li>6th grade \u2013 Berkner, Pearce, &amp; Richardson Learning Communities<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-edf0bd2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"edf0bd2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tElementary students in grade levels not listed above may be referred for testing during the annual elementary referral window.  The 2025-2026 referral window is October 3-17, 2025.
