The Richardson ISD Foundation recently teamed with the TI Foundation and Fujitsu to celebrate five RISD teachers making a difference in STEM education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katy McDonald, a third-grade math and science teacher at MST Magnet, won the 2023 Fujitsu Trailblazer Award. The Fujitsu Trailblazer Award honors an exceptional Pre-K through sixth-grade teacher or librarian who engages students in the learning process and helps them acquire technological skills for the 21st century, allowing them to think creatively, effectively develop academic skills, and, most importantly, love learning. To celebrate McDonald\u2019s contributions in the classroom, Fujitsu awarded her $5,000. \"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lars Londot of Richardson High School, Kathleen Ma of Westwood Junior High, Kathryn Caravano and Jessica Rodrigues Furlong of Apollo Junior High won the 2023 TI Innovation in STEM Teaching Award. The Texas Instruments Foundation created this award to honor secondary teachers who inspire students to pursue STEM subjects. Each of the four RISD TI STEM Teaching Award recipients will receive a $5,000 personal award and a $5,000 grant for STEM-related professional development opportunities, new technology, or classroom materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
