The <\/em><\/strong>Lead Well Student Leadership Summit<\/strong> held the first of four quarterly meetings last week. Over 150 junior and senior high school leaders are invited to participate in the program, which offers an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, learn and connect with other student leaders, and provides practical tools to lead now and in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On their campuses, these students are called to step up and to lead their peers in fine arts, athletics, and other student-led organizations. Lead Well<\/em> students are identified by their campus administrators as being positive ambassadors of their groups and campuses. Lead Well <\/em>helps to nurture the qualities of these student leaders and empowers them to grow and develop as leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keynote speaker was Stephen Mackey, better known to students and educators as Coach Mackey \u2013 a player development coach, public speaker, and Wall Street Journal best-selling author. He speaks to the students on building their own leadership, while at the same time approaching their roles with selflessness and while building others up. A key takeaway many students shared were these words from Mackey: \u201cLeaders lead to help others get better. It\u2019s not about me, it\u2019s about helping the people around me succeed.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
