{"id":8935,"date":"2022-05-06T14:39:15","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T19:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/?p=8935"},"modified":"2022-06-07T08:56:44","modified_gmt":"2022-06-07T13:56:44","slug":"trustees-announce-superintendent-search-timeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/trustees-announce-superintendent-search-timeline\/","title":{"rendered":"Superintendent Search Timeline &#038; Community Input Opportunities","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Richardson ISD,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the president of the RISD Board of Trustees, I\u2019m excited to share the next steps in our search for RISD\u2019s superintendent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RISD has retained the firm of O\u2019Hanlon, Demerath and Castillo to conduct a national search for RISD\u2019s next leader, and <a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Supt-Search-Timeline-Eng.pdf\">we would like to share the timeline for the process to unfold<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Supt-Search-Timeline-Spa.pdf\">(en espa\u00f1ol)<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Through the month of May, the search firm will be conducting and facilitating a series of opportunities for all RISD stakeholders to provide their input into the traits and characteristics they would like to see in the next superintendent.<\/li><li>Through a series of focus groups, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Supt-Search-TownHalls-Eng.pdf\">community meetings<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Supt-Search-TownHalls-Spa.pdf\">en espanol<\/a>), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/RichardsonCommunity\">surveys<\/a>, the firm will develop a profile by May 31 that will be used to help identify qualified candidates.<\/li><li>On June 1, the position of superintendent will be officially posted, and the search will formally begin. Starting that day, the search firm will begin identifying and recruiting candidates to apply for the position, and those efforts will continue through the month of June.<\/li><li>In early July, my fellow trustees and I will work with the search firm to identify quality internal and external candidates to interview based on qualifications, experience and how well they fit with the superintendent profile.<\/li><li>We will interview candidates into mid-July and our goal is to have a final candidate identified and announced by July 18.&nbsp;<\/li><li>In Texas, this final candidate is known as a <em>lone finalist<\/em>, and under the law, 21 days must elapse between that announcement and when the new leader can be formally hired.<\/li><li>After that 21 day period, our intention is to introduce RISD\u2019s next superintendent on August 9, in advance of the 2022-23 school year that begins August 16.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We know this has been a long semester, and we are pleased to be at this point.
