aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-9452\"><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/tiaoverview\/\"><strong>Teacher Incentive Allotment<\/strong><\/a> provides more funding and increased salaries to highly effective teachers. The focus of the TIA is to prioritize teaching in high-need areas and reward high-performing teachers. Highly effective teachers can receive a designation of recognized, exemplary or master. This designation is added to the teacher\u2019s SBEC certificate and remains valid for five years. The four campuses participating in TIA as part of the district\u2019s Cohort C application include: Carolyn Bukhair Elementary, Forest Lane Academy, RISD Academy and Thurgood Marshall Elementary.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-9453\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" Personal leave is available for use at the beginning of the year. A day of personal leave is equivalent to the number of hours per day in an employee\u2019s usual assignment, whether full-time or part-time.<\/p>\n\n\t<p><\/p>Personal leave may be used for two general purposes: non-discretionary and discretionary.<\/p>\n\n\t<p><strong>Non-discretionary<\/strong><br>\nLeave taken for personal or family illness, family emergency, death in the\nfamily, or active military service is considered non-discretionary leave. Reasons for this type of leave allow very little, if any, advance planning. Non-discretionary may be used in the same manner as state sick leave.<\/p>\n\n\t<p><strong>Discretionary<\/strong><br>\nDiscretionary leave is a planned personal day that may be taken at an employee\u2019s discretion and should be scheduled at least five days in advance of the anticipated absence. The effect of the employee\u2019s absence on the educational program or department operations, as well as the availability of substitutes, will be considered by the principal or supervisor when the request is made. Discretionary personal leave may not be taken for more than two consecutive days and for no more than five workdays per school year, except in extenuating circumstances as approved by the RISD superintendent or designee.
