Bond Steering Committee

bond steering committee

The RISD Community Bond Steering Committee was formed and met in 2020, concluding its work in January. The purpose of the committee was to provide facility, equipment and infrastructure recommendations to the RISD board of trustees as it considered placing a bond package before voters in 2021. The committee comprised nearly 50 community members, representing a diverse cross section of RISD, including parents, business owners, senior citizens, community leaders, and residents both new to Richardson and those who graduated from RISD schools and have returned to raise their own families.

The committee analyzed and discussed facility assessments, enrollment projections, financial data, departmental and school needs , results of a community survey, and other data relevant in creating and maintaining learning environments that align with RISD’s mission, vision and goals. On Jan. 11, committee members presented recommendations to RISD trustees, and those recommendations became the basis for RISD’s proposed Bond 2021 package, called by RISD trustees on Feb. 8.
