Visiting a School

Everyone needs an ID to enter an RISD campus.

District schools and some facilities utilize a safe and efficient system called Verkada for campus visitors and volunteers to sign in, as well as students who don’t have their district-issued ID. RISD employees are also reminded to sign in when visiting a campus and always display their ID badge  Verkada conducts a background check on all visitors, takes a photo to generate a visitor badge, and does not retain any personal information from visitors.

The Verkada Guest system is in place at all secondary schools and every elementary campus, and replaced the previous RAPTOR system.

The system also includes an Intercom feature for office staff to communicate with visitors visually and verbally before they enter the building.
