Two-Way Spanish Immersion

Dual Language Immersion Two-Way Program Information Session

Families in the Lake Highlands learning community are invited to learn about the RISD Dual Language Immersion Two-Way Program to be offered at the Stults Road Elementary campus for Pre-K and kindergarten students in the fall 2023.

The session will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria and cover program details with information about pilot program qualifications, timeline, and selection process. Spanish interpretation services will be available.

Program Overview

Distinctly from Dual Language One-Way, students in this enrichment program are composed of an equal number of native speakers of Spanish and native Speakers of English. Both student groups have the opportunity to become bi-literate, bilingual, and bicultural scholars. Instruction is provided in English and Spanish and language learning is integrated with content instruction as they progress through elementary years. It is important to note that in order to offer a full immersion experience, English speaking students will receive literacy instruction in Spanish in the early elementary grades. A commitment of minimum 2 years is required for students/families to take part in this innovative language acquisition program.
