Regular Sick Leave Bank

Overview

The RISD sick leave bank helps employees deal with prolonged, severe, or life-threatening conditions that force them to exhaust their paid leave.

The employee sick leave bank is a repository of unused state or local leave days from enrolled employees and subsequent contributions from members.

Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, the RISD sick leave bank has been expanded to allow employees enrolled in the program to use it for paid maternity and paternity leave and bereavement. Please note that the sick leave bank cannot be used in place of standard medical leave options available to RISD employees.

The window to enroll In the RISD employee sick leave bank is Sept. 1 to Sept. 30. RISD employees enroll in the sick leave bank by donating two local days during September.

After enrolling, employees will be required to donate one day per year to continue benefit eligibility.
