School Library Advisory Council

In the 89th Legislative Session, SB 13 created the School Library Advisory Council (SLAC), a local body designed to provide recommendations on proposed library materials as well as policies and processes relating to library acquisition and challenges.
The majority of the SLAC members must be parents that are not employed by the district and are appointed by the RISD Board of Trustees.

Library Materials Acquisitions

In compliance with state law, Richardson ISD will post for 30 days library materials recommended for purchase to provide staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to board approval.
Parents, students, staff, and/or community members are welcome to ask questions or provide feedback on materials by completing this feedback form. All comments received within the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered prior to finalizing the purchase. Materials listed as elementary would also be available to junior high/middle school. Materials listed as elementary and junior high/middle school would be available to high schools.

Note: All ISBN formats (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc.) will be applied for each individual title.
