Workers' Compensation

The District provides Workers’ Compensation coverage for all employees. If you have sustained a work related injury, please notify your supervisor immediately. The District requires an injured employee to complete an injury report within 24 hours of the incident. The completed report should be signed by your supervisor and submitted to RiskManagement@risd.org. For additional information, contact the District’s Workers’ Compensation Coordinator at 469-593-0051.

An injured employee is entitled to medical benefits when an injury is sustained within the course and scope of their employment.

Treatment Requirements

The state of Texas allows the injured employee to seek treatment with a doctor of their choice. The doctor you select must accept workers’ compensation patients. Please ensure you notify your doctor you are treating for a work related injury at the first visit. If treatment is sought for the injury, you must provide a work status report from your doctor before returning to work. This report must be submitted to your supervisor and to Risk Management.

Contact Risk Management for any questions or concerns you have regarding an injury or workers’ compensation benefits.
