RISD uses VOLY at risd.voly.org to manage volunteer opportunities throughout the district, including We Read Together. If you do not already have a VOLY account, you need to create one. All volunteers must consent to a background check. Once your VOLY account has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email with next steps to sign up for specific time slots.

During the 2022 fall semester, six campuses will participate in We Read Together. In the spring 2023. We plan to add six more campuses. Days and time slots will vary for each campus, therefore you can sign up for a slot as your schedule allows. Please note by signing up for a slot, you are committing to meeting with your student weekly. Campus testing, field trips, etc. vary and may affect weekly schedules. Weekly We Read Together newsletters will keep you informed of any schedule changes.

How Volunteering Works

Volunteer working with students

We Read Together Volunteers will spend an hour each week assisting RISD students gain lifelong literacy skills that will empower them to have a love for reading! We know that the key to a young reader’s success is confidence. Each week you volunteer, you’ll be helping them build that confidence and will be a part of creating a literacy experience for students.
