Resources for Families
Overview
RISD provides many resources for families on a variety of topics. We want to make sure that families have access to this information when needed. If you have any questions about these or need more support, please reach out to your campus counselors.
Resources:
- findhelp.org – this website provides resources based on zip code for all needs, including basic needs, mental health, and other resources which are provided in most languages.
- Metrocare Services of Dallas – Metrocare is north Texas’ leading nonprofit dedicated to helping
people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and severe emotional problems live healthier lives. Metrocare provides a comprehensive array of individually tailored services to help the people we serve toward meaningful and satisfying lives. - 2-1-1 Texas – This is a free, confidential service that connects people to community resources in their area, including food banks, shelters, healthcare, and more.
- United Way of Metropolitan Dallas – This organization provides a wide range of services, including financial assistance, housing support, and mental health resources. They can also help you find other local resources.
- Mosaic Family Services – Provides a wide range of services including advocacy, shelter, mental health services, and housing assistance.
- Network of Community Ministries – Provides a wide range of services including basic needs assistance, stabilization, mental health services, and youth/senior programs.
- Catholic Charities of Greater Dallas – Catholic Charities Dallas is a social service agency focused on improving the quality of life for people in need. We are first responders to our community’s most vulnerable, helping those in crisis move toward a better life.
- Jewish Family Services of Greater Dallas – Provides a wide range of services including medical care for all ages, food pantry, and family violence intervention.
- Dallas County Community Referral List – A list of agencies in Dallas County, the services they provide, and contact information for each one.
- City of Dallas: Office of Community Care – The Social Services & Support Program provides emergency assistance to individuals and families who have experienced a temporary financial crisis.
