Industry Experiences for All
Tech Titans
Tech Titans is an organization that RISD works with to develop and implement STEM events throughout the school year. Their focus is to connect students with experiential learning, career preparation and STEM Careers in action. Panel discussion events are scheduled for each high school and their feeder pattern junior highs. The panel discussion will focus on “Everyone can be successful in Engineering & Technology.” Panelists will include community business leaders from Tech Titans partnering companies that may include Texas Instruments, State Farm, Mitel, UTD, Verizon, Cisco and more.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement’s Purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. As a partner with RISD, Junior achievement brings many programs into our CTE classrooms. Programs such as JA Career Exploration Fair, JA Job Shadow, JA Finance Park and JA High School Heroes are among those currently being offered in our high schools and junior highs.
iDream
iDream is a one day career day for 7th grade student in RISD to learn more about opportunities available after high school. Students will connect with business professionals to learn more about career opportunities in cluster areas such as Business, Marketing & Finance, Health Science, STEM, Hospitality, Public Service, and Architecture & Construction & Education. This event will be held at Richland College on January 10, 2020.
Practicum & Career Prep Learning
Experiences consist of time spent at an approved training site, as well as classroom instruction. Practicums are specific to a Career Cluster and combine classroom instruction with learning experiences in a lab setting or an approved training sits. These work based learning experiences may be paid or un-paid.
