Reading Language Arts

Overview

Reading Language Arts

The Reading Language Arts Curriculum and Instruction team deeply believes that literacy skills are the backbone of any quality education. Through the backwards design planning process of the Reading Language Arts TEKS coupled with the workshop instructional model, students develop into competent and confident readers and writers from Pre-K to 12th grade.

Hallmarks of daily teaching and learning in RISD classrooms include intentional instruction on phonics and word study while expanding students’ vocabulary. This strong foundation supports students learning to read in their early years to reading to learn as they grow in reading fluency and encounter more sophisticated and complex texts.
