At its June 8 meeting, the RISD Board of Trustees adopted Strategic Plan 2023-2028. This new, five-year plan will put into action the district’s North Star goal, as well as guide the district’s planning, purchasing, and annual improvement efforts for the next five years. The 2023-2028 RISD Strategic Plan is meant to serve as a living document that will be implemented, evaluated, adjusted, and reported on regularly to meet the North Star goal.
Purpose & Scope
Purpose:
The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to define goals, develop specific results, and determine actions that lead to achieving RISD’s call to action while also reflecting community expectations.
The development of a Strategic Plan:
- Outlines a districtwide map for the future with clear direction.
- Encompasses strategic thinking, incorporates backwards-design, and informed planning.
- Aligns roles, resources and systems.
Scope:
The scope of RISD’s Strategic Plan provides goals, specific results, and action plans aligned to the district’s North Star goal, the call to action, and the district’s priorities.

This isn’t just another generic district plan, but a community vision that supports our goals for student success and ensures we realize the goals of our Graduate Profile for every student
