Process to Run for School Board
Application for a place on the ballot must be filed with the local Election Office by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline in the Elections Office at 400 S. Greenville Ave., as established by the Secretary of State.
The deadline to file for a place on the ballot in the general trustee election is generally the 78th day before the May uniform election date. The deadline to declare for a write-in candidate generally is five days after the regular filing deadline.
The deadline to file for a place on the ballot in a special election generally is the 61st day before the date of the special election.
Board Application Packet:
In order to be considered complete, applications must be notarized. The submission date and time will be determined by the time and date noted in the RISD email system.
