Minimum Requirements to serve as a Professional in RISD
Teachers
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Teachers must have an academic major, as well as teacher training courses. An exemption from the degree requirement is for individuals seeking Career and Technology certification.
- Applicants must complete teacher training through an approved program. Programs are offered through colleges and universities, school districts, regional service centers, community colleges, and other entities.
- Applicants must successfully complete the appropriate teacher certification tests for the subject and grade level being taught.

Minimum Requirements to serve as a Paraprofessional in RISD
Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessional applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Campus and Central instructional aides must register with the Texas Education Agency for Educational Aide Certification upon being hired. For more information please refer to the Texas Education Agency website.
