City of Richardson Art and Essay Contest

Writers and artists are invited to participate in Richardson’s annual MLK essay and Black History Month art contests

Winning works will be published by the city with winners receiving $200 and certificates of achievement from the mayor and city council.

The essay contest is for students in grades 4 through 12. One entry per student, and essays should not exceed 500 words. The deadline is Jan. 31.

Create a visual image that displays how your unique beliefs and values contribute to our diverse community and help promote inclusion. The art contest is for students in Pre-K through grade 12. One entry per student, and submissions may include two-dimensional or three-dimensional art pieces. Art submissions are open from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28.
