- Welcome back for the second half of the 2020-21 school year. This quarter, 67% of parents have selected in-person instruction and 33% have selected virtual.
- Pandemic protocols remain in place and are still very important. Virus transmission in our community remains high, as do cases reported among RISD students and staff. Please continue to wear masks, observe social distancing and especially, encourage our students to make good decisions while away from school.
- Over the break, RISD nurses had the opportunity to receive a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We continue to advocate for our teachers and other essential frontline employees to be prioritized as the vaccine rollout continues.
- January is School Board Appreciation Month – please thank our elected trustees, who are volunteers that devote many hours to RISD’s success.
- On Monday, RISD recognized and thanked our student resource officers and other police officers who work to keep our campuses safe as part of law enforcement appreciation day.
- RISD schools are working to remind our stakeholders to express opinions about the current political climate and situation in a respectful and civil manner. Everyone has a right to express their opinion, but within our district, not in a way that is derogatory or intimidating to others with different opinions.
- Schools and offices will be closed on January 18 in memory and recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Everyone is encouraged to reflect about Dr. King’s legacy and consider engaging in any activity that day to benefit others in our community.
- We are looking forward to a great semester of teaching and learning.
