RISD Closed on Tuesday, Jan. 27

Richardson ISD Closed

Due to continued inclement weather and hazardous travel conditions, including record breaking cold temperatures forecasted for Monday evening, all Richardson ISD schools and offices will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. This decision was made based on the following forecasted conditions:

  • Any possible melting of snow and ice on Monday will refreeze overnight and into Tuesday morning.
  • Roads will remain icy, snow-covered, and unsafe for bus and car travel until more wide-spread melting can occur on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Anticipated early morning temperatures and wind chills forecasted for Tuesday morning pose a significant risk to students walking to school or waiting at bus stops.
  • District facility teams will use the extra day to evaluate all district campuses and buildings for any storm related damage and clean up if necessary

All district operations, including games, events, programs, and xPlore, are canceled for Monday and Tuesday. Additional information about athletic practices and games scheduled for Tuesday will be communicated once plans are finalized.

The district will update families and staff on any possible make up days as soon as possible.

Families and staff should continue to monitor the district website, district social media, and your email/text alerts for further updates.

Be safe and bundle up.
