Junior High to Middle School Transformation Update

LHJH rendering of new campus

As RISD begins the process of moving to a middle school model, the construction projects at Forest Meadow and Lake Highlands junior high schools are progressing as planned.

RISD expects to have these campuses ready to host sixth-graders in August 2024. A representative from Perkins&Will presented some of the specifics of the projects underway at these campuses to the RISD board of trustees at the November regular monthly meeting.

Forest Meadow will gain a new facade and have increased square footage while receiving new floors, lighting, paint, and ceilings, as well as new office and classroom furniture. Lake Highlands Junior High will be completely rebuilt as a new middle school campus. RISD administration continues to work with the community to ensure the new school will serve the area for another 50 years.
