After each Regular Board of Trustees meeting, we share a brief summary of recognitions, presentations, and items covered during the meeting. Trustee Megan Timme shares a recap of the Dec. 11 meeting. Highlights included student and staff recognitions, information about the upcoming Middle School Transition projects as approved by voters through the 2025 Bond, and approval of the 2026-27 and 2027-28 calendars.
Board Recognitions:
- Partner Recognition: Unity Behavioral Health supported the district with a coat drive for RISD students.
- Partner Recognition: Doing Good in Dallas, Stella Jet Experiences, and Trina’s Kids Foundation for hosting the Day of Joy for RISD students.
- Campus Recognition: Yale Elementary was named a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work school for successfully implementing collaborative, results-driven learning practices.
- Staff Recognition: Caitlin Zancana, Pearce HS teacher, was awarded the Dual Credit Teacher Excellence award from Dallas College.
- Student Recognitions:
- Raina Cohen and Ray Hunter, Berkner HS, were invited to design an ornament for the House Chamber Christmas Tree 2025 Ornament Showcase in the Texas Capitol’s House Chamber.
- Alexandra Nini, Pearce HS, and Mia Chavez, Richardson HS, were the winners of this year’s holiday card contest. Their artwork is on the district’s holiday card for this year.
- Pearce High School Theatre was selected to perform “Alice by Heart” at the Texas Thespians State Festival this month and marks the program’s fourth consecutive year being recognized as one of the top productions in Texas.
- Cross Country and Volleyball 2025-26 Academic All-State Recipients and State competitors from all four high schools.
