2026 District Teachers of the Year with Superintendent

Congratulations to RISD’s eight 2026 STARS Teachers of the Year! Two STARS (Superior Teaching Achievements in RISD Schools) Teachers of the Year from each learning community were selected from among RISD’s 2025-26 campus teachers of the year and surprised at their schools with the great news and a check for $1,000!

  • Ashley Bouras, Jess Harben Elementary – Update: Ms. Bouras has been named the RISD Elementary Teacher of the Year

  • Tobi Brooks, Pearce High School –  Update: Ms. Brooks has been named the RISD Secondary Teacher of the Year

As the fourth Howell sibling to walk the halls of Lake Highlands High School and soon Texas A&M University, Peri Howell is continuing a strong family tradition while creating a path that is uniquely hers. With three scholarships in hand to attend her dream school, she’s preparing for a future in medicine driven by her desire to help others.
