Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a national awareness campaign focused on substance use prevention.

RISD’s Live Wise LIve Healthy focus on drug and violence prevention during October and November aligns with the national Red Ribbon Week campaign, which has been celebrated from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31 for more than 35 years.

RISD counseling and prevention services will provide lessons for students in kindergarten through grade 12, focusing on substance use awareness as well as coping and refusal skills. To review these lessons and access parent discussion guides please visit: Drug Prevention and Intervention.

RISD wants to partner with parents in the school district’s substance use prevention efforts. Parents are the biggest influence in a child’s life, and having open, honest conversations is one of the most powerful ways to connect with your kids, and help them develop into healthy adults.

This guide will help you have conversations with your child about substance use.
