The University Interscholastic League (UIL), the organization that governs Texas high school athletics, released its biennial realignment of schools and districts on February 1 for football, basketball and volleyball. All four RISD high schools will be in district 7-6A, along with the three Irving high schools (Irving, MacArthur, Nimitz) and Jesuit.

For boys football and basketball, District 7-6A will have eight schools (including boys-only Jesuit), and girls basketball and volleyball will have seven schools. Highland Park, part of the current district 7-6A, is dropping to the 5A classification starting next year, and will no longer be in district with RISD.

“We’re pleased with this realignment for the next two school years,” said RISD Executive Director of Athletics Leslie Slovak. “Our RISD schools will continue to remain together, and we appreciate the programs, sportsmanship, and administration of our Irving and Jesuit competitors.”

District alignments for other UIL sports should be released later in the spring.
