Board of Trustee Vanessa Pacheco, single-member for District 2, was appointed as a member of the 2025 Board of Directors of the Mexican American School Boards Association, during the organization’s conference earlier this month.
MASBA was founded in 1970 to address the severe underrepresentation of Mexican Americans in school governance. It has also been a strong force in ensuring accurate representation of Latino history in education. The organization is dedicated to advancing equitable access to quality education and advocating for 14 million Latino students.
Trustee Pacheco will serve as part of a 13-member board of directors and will serve in this role for a two-year term.
“I fully embrace this role and remain committed to supporting our district and all RISD students by continuing to advocate for equitable policies and forward-thinking strategies that uplift every learner in our community and across the spaces MASBA represents,” says Pacheco.
Congrats on this great accomplishment and thank you for representing RISD!
