As temperatures drop, warming shelters and centers across North Texas are open to provide safe, heated spaces for individuals and families in need. If you or someone you know needs relief from the cold, please review the resources below and share this information with others.

City of Richardson Warming Centers
The City of Richardson has initiated winter weather response preparations in advance of severe winter weather this weekend.

Three 24-hour warming centers will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 to provide a place for people who may lose power and/or need temporary shelter. The warming centers are in the lobbies at the following locations:

  • Richardson Police Department Administration Building, 200 N. Greenville Ave.
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 3, 500 W. Lookout Dr.
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 6, 3591 Park Vista Rd.

Warming centers are intended to provide temporary shelter and are not equipped with beds or long-term amenities. Service animals are allowed; pets are not permitted.

Overnight warming shelters are available throughout North Texas during severe cold weather events.

When an event night is declared, the shelter is open at:

City of Dallas Warming Centers
Residents seeking relief from cold weather may visit City of Dallas public facilities, including libraries and recreation centers, during regular business hours.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a homeless crisis, please call the Homeless Crisis Hotline at 1-888-411-6802.

In the event of a medical or life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
