RISD students are on a Quest for School Breakfast this week during National School Breakfast Week! This year’s theme highlights how nutritious morning meals fuel student success, help with concentration, and overall health.
Did you know? Children who eat breakfast are more likely to:
- Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
- Score higher on standardized tests
- Have better concentration and memory
- Be more alert and maintain a healthy weight
Last school year:
- 1,163,346 school breakfasts were served
- On average, 7,000 RISD students eat school breakfast each day
- Our dedicated Food and Child Nutrition staff spend about 13,000 labor hours preparing nutritious school breakfasts
Thank you to the school nutrition professionals at our schools for their hard work in providing students with nutritious meals. We know mornings can be tough as families rush out the door; encourage your student to start their day off right by eating breakfast at school! #TXSBW #NSBW
