We are proud to celebrate Richardson ISD’s designation as a Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction for the 6th consecutive year!
This outstanding honor recognizes districts that demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to visual arts education through student exhibitions, TAEA participation, community engagement, field experiences, community service, advocacy, and cross-content area collaboration.
Out of more than 1,200 eligible districts, only 109 districts across Texas received this distinction for the 2025–2026 academic year. This recognition reflects the incredible work of our RISD Visual Arts teachers, the creativity of our students, and the continued support of our campus and district leadership.
“Richardson ISD has set a high standard for visual arts advocacy, integrated visual arts curriculum, encouraged creativity, community participation and student growth,” said Nealy Holley, Chair of the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, “It is a true testament to your visual art educators’ skill, dedication, and flexibility that the quality of their programs continued to provide strong and comprehensive visual art educational experiences to students.”
TAEA follows a rigorous rubric for the award that takes into account promotion of the arts in the district and community, active participation in areas such as VASE, Junior VASE, and TEAM as well as field experiences, community service, and community exhibition opportunities.
RISD will be honored at the TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony during the TAEA Fall Conference.
