RISD District 5 trustee Karen Clardy has submitted her resignation from the RISD Board of Trustees. Clardy had served on the board since 2017 and is in her second term. She had served as board president since June 2020.

“On behalf of the district, we thank Karen for her service to RISD, both on the Board of Trustees and her 25 years at Lake Highlands High School,” Superintendent Jeannie Stone said. “Her contributions and commitment to students and teachers have been impactful and real, and we wish her the very, very best moving forward.”

RISD trustees are expected to formally consider Clardy’s resignation at an upcoming board meeting. The board also may discuss next steps related to the vacancy created by Ms. Clardy’s resignation from her seat in single-member district 5 and as board president. Single-member district 5 is up for election in May 2022.
