Bluebonnet Math & Reading Language Arts Curriculum

Some RISD Elementary Schools Utilizing Bluebonnet Math, Not Bluebonnet RLA for 2025-26

Background

Beginning in 2023-2024, RISD made the decision to pilot new curriculum materials that Texas Education Agency provided as a support to help with the COVID learning recovery at 14 elementary campuses that were experiencing either slower student academic growth or high teacher turnover in 2022-23. The two new resources were called Eureka (Math) and Amplify (Reading Language Arts). The curriculums are very structured, with set lessons and scripts for teachers to follow. RISD’s goals for Eureka and Amplify were to ensure students access grade level material and remove some of the planning burden from teachers, allowing them to shift their focus to“internalizing” the lessons and ensuring a high level of delivery to students.
For 2025-26 Eureka and Amplify were rebranded and updated by TEA, and are now known as Bluebonnet Math and Bluebonnet Reading Language Arts (RLA).

Bluebonnet Math

The 14 RISD elementary schools that have recently been utilizing the Eureka math curriculum will use the rebranded and updated Bluebonnet Math for 2025-26. The remainder of RISD campuses will continue to use the TEKS Resource System math curriculum.

Bluebonnet Reading Language Arts (RLA)

The 9 RISD elementary schools that have recently been utilizing the Amplify curriculum will continue to use the Amplify curriculum for 2025-26, but not shift to the updated and rebranded Bluebonnet Reading RLA (Reading Language Arts).
RISD does not feel it has enough information to make another change in RLA at this time. RISD teachers are either in their first or second year of Amplify implementation and we do not want to introduce another change for teachers and administrators at this time.
RISD would like more time to understand the changes and updates made by TEA and use 2025-26 to gather feedback from districts that do adopt Bluebonnet RLA, as well as other TEA-approved Reading Language Arts resources.
