After reviewing feedback from stakeholders, RISD trustees adopted option B as the district’s 2025-26 school year calendar.

That school year will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, and conclude on May 22, 2026.

Spring break is currently scheduled for March 15-20, 2025, but that may change to align with Dallas College’s spring break.

More than 1,000 students attend Dallas College as part of the district’s dual-credit programs. If the 2026 spring break dates change, the calendar will be updated and parents notified.

Trustees heard a salary and compensation update at the Feb. 22 meeting that stressed the importance of reimaging how RISD recruits and retains the highest quality educators per the RISD board’s adopted strategic plan.

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Chris Goodson presented the results of a benefits survey from last year that showed nearly 90% of RISD employees prioritize better compensation over other types of employee benefits with about 75% of respondents indicating they prefer a higher base salary.

Some of the ways RISD has reimagined recruitment efforts include opening an employee acute care clinic, expanding pre-K opportunities across the district and creating child learning academies for employees.lick here to watch the board presentation.
