Bond 2025 Project Update: Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center and Environmental Science Center (ESC)

Bond 2025 Richardson ISD

Following voter approval of the $1.4 billion Bond 2025 program in November 2025, the district is advancing planning and scheduling for major capital projects. While the Middle School Transformation remains the primary focus for Years 1–2 (2026–2028), preliminary planning is underway for the centralized Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center and the Environmental Science Center (ESC).

  • New CTE Center: Built on district-owned land adjacent to the RISD Operations Center on Greenville Avenue, Facility design work is set to start during the 2026–27 school year, with heavy construction planned for Years 3–5 of the Bond 2025 timeline. The Career and Technical Education Center is scheduled to begin with programming and design in 2027, with completion anticipated in 2030.
  • Environmental Science Center (ESC): Approved through Proposition A, improvements will focus on upgrading existing facilities and expanding outdoor learning spaces based on recommendations from the Environmental Science Committee. Active development and renovations are scheduled for Years 3–5 of the Bond 2025 program. Planning continues for the Environmental Science Center, with Phase 1 planning and programming beginning in 2026 and construction expected through 2029.

Together, these facilities will support the RISD North Star Goal by creating engaging learning environments where every student can grow, discover their strengths, and develop the skills needed for college, careers, and life beyond graduation. Through expanded CTE programs, environmental science experiences, and innovative curriculum opportunities, students will have access to meaningful, hands-on learning that inspires curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and future-ready skills.
