BrightBytes Technology Survey Results

For the eighth year in a row, RISD conducted a survey of students, teachers, parents, and staff with the goal of improving decisions made around technology integration within the classroom and curriculum, professional development training and support, and any future technology initiatives,

Survey results showed RISD continues to maintain high ratings in technology integration throughout the school district. 

The BrightBytes survey was conducted between Jan. 16 to Feb. 10, and nearly 20,000 students, more than 3,200 staff members and 1,659 parents/community members responded. RISD remains well above the state and national scores in all areas measured, and RISD teachers and students remain confident in their multimedia skills.

RISD teachers report having regular conversations about technology use during PLCs, observations, and evaluations. The district instructional technology team will continue to partner with teaching and learning to facilitate further organizational understanding as teachers and students increase use of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication.

RISD continues to create strategies for modeling safe practices and appropriate communication via technology. The school district strives to provide teachers with explicit examples of digital citizenship in the classroom that also align with specific technology application TEKS and content-area standards.

RISD plans to continue training teachers about technology integration through professional learning that is purposeful, designed intentionally for the audience, and well facilitated. The district seeks to provide more opportunities on campuses to better serve specific technology needs while partnering with principals to plan opportunities that further understanding of the impact of technology.
