Through the month of May, the superintendent search firm is facilitating a series of opportunities for all RISD community members to provide input into the traits and characteristics they would like to see in the next superintendent. Through a series of focus groups, community meetings (en español), and surveys, the firm will develop a profile by May 31 that will be used to help identify qualified candidates.

The RISD board plans to interview candidates into mid-July with the goal of finding a final candidate by July 18. In Texas, there is a 21-day period between the announcement of a lone finalist and when the new leader can be formally hired. Trustees adopted this timeline to introduce the next superintendent on Aug. 9, in advance of the 2022-23 school year that begins Aug, 16.
