Dover Teacher Doing Great Things

Charquel Glover, a third-grade math and science teacher at Dover Elementary, with some help from her mother and a few friends was able to provide a book and a toy for every one of her students ahead of the break. Previously at Wallace Elementary, where she was recognized as a Super Teacher in March, Glover gave books to all of her students one year and birthday presents another.

This year, she was going to make small snack bags for each student ahead of the break, but saw a larger need and sought help. In addition to some family members, Glover partnered with some area nonprofits to help her show students how much she cares for them and wants them to leave her classroom a little better than when they came in.

“My mother flew in from Chicago to help along with my sister and my niece. We packed over 35 bags, making sure that every student received a bag full of goodies such as leapfrog puzzles, board games, books, remote control cars, full Lego sets, trivia games and so much more,” Glover said. “I do these types of things every year not because I have a lot of money or to get recognition. My goal is to give our future leaders hope and encouragement to do their best and be their best because everyone matters!”
