Richardson ISD students demonstrated exceptional academic growth during the 2025–2026 school year, according to end-of-year Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment results presented to the Board of Trustees during the June board meeting.
The results reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to its North Star Goal of ensuring every student, teacher, and leader meets or exceeds academic growth goals. MAP assessments are used throughout the year to measure student growth in reading and mathematics and help educators tailor instruction to meet students’ needs.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade take MAP assessments three times each year—in the fall, winter, and spring—providing teachers with valuable insights to monitor student progress, celebrate growth, and target support or enrichment where needed. The 2025–2026 results reaffirm Richardson ISD’s commitment to academic excellence, with students exceeding national growth expectations in both reading and mathematics, among all student groups, from the beginning to the end of the school year. Students demonstrated strong reading growth across grade levels in both English and Spanish, while mathematics achievement reflected consistent and sustained progress, underscoring the district’s success in helping every student grow and achieve at high levels.
The data also showed that RISD students finished the year performing at or above national norms, while midyear results exceeded both state and national benchmarks. Additionally, students who remained enrolled in RISD for the full academic year demonstrated stronger growth outcomes than in previous years.
Several campuses were recognized for exceptional student growth, including Jess Harben Elementary, Forest Lane Elementary, and Richardson North Junior High. District leaders highlighted these schools as examples of how focused instruction, strong campus leadership, and a commitment to student success can drive outstanding results.
For the 2026–2027 school year, Richardson ISD will build on this momentum by continuing to accelerate student achievement through individualized growth plans, weekly data-driven collaboration, targeted intervention and enrichment opportunities, and aligned support systems across all campuses and departments. Guided by its North Star Goal, the district remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring every student experiences meaningful academic growth, reaches their full potential, and is prepared for success in college, career, and life.
