RISD had eight students in the Class of 2023 graduate with an associate degree through the school district’s partnership with Dallas College.
About 120 RISD students graduated high school with a Level One certificate via the program, as well. Level One certificates are awarded to students who complete at least 15 credit hours of college courses and who show mastery of specific knowledge or skills. These are Dallas College dual credit courses. RISD health care students earned a level one certificate as a patient care tech.
All the RISD students who walked in the Dallas College graduation ceremony in mid-May are members of the P-TECH program in the Healthcare Careers Academy, Wildcat College and Career Academy, or the Mustang Collegiate Academy. “This group of students has paved a path for future RISD graduates. We couldn’t be prouder of our P-Tech students for their hard work and determination,” said Creighton Bryan, RISD Executive Director of Career & Technical Education.
“We are so proud of our RISD and Dallas College dual graduates! This opportunity opens many doors for a bright and exciting future,” said Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Kristin Leeper. “One of our dual graduates – Pricila Cano Padron – will be joining RISD next fall as a fourth-grade teacher, as this school district continues to grow its own.”
