Richardson ISD is proud to celebrate Math Science and Technology Magnet (MST) and Richardson West Junior High Arts & Technology Magnet (RWJH) for earning Certified National Magnet School and National Certified-Demonstration Schools from the Magnet Schools of America (MSA), a national recognition that honors exemplary magnet and theme-based schools across the country. They are the first magnet schools in RISD to be certified and join the ranks of only 40 Nationally Certified Schools and 37 Nationally Certified-Demonstration Schools announced nationwide in 2026.
The prestigious certification is awarded to schools that have established strong Standards of Excellence through defined evidence-based practices, reflection, and strategic action that provide high-quality, innovative learning experiences that support student achievement and opportunity available through school choice.
RWJH not only met the Standards of Excellence, but exceeded the criteria and will serve as learning models for magnets across the country to replicate as a Certified Demonstration School.
The MSA certification process involves a rigorous evaluation based on five main pillars that define high-quality magnet programs, including: diversity, innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, high-quality instructional systems, and family and community partnerships.
MST and RWJH have demonstrated their continued commitment to exceptional student achievement and unique learning opportunities. Congratulations to our students, staff, and school communities on this tremendous honor and accomplishment.
