Our school nurses have it all: care, compassion, and expertise! This school year alone, our RISD nurses have been involved in over 170,000 health-related events, addressing illnesses, injuries, preventative screening, health education, medication, and performing nearly 20K of specialized medical procedures supporting students with complex health needs who might otherwise be unable to attend school.
Since 1972, National School Nurse Day has been set aside to recognize school nurses and is being celebrated this year on Wednesday, May 6.
