Open Enrollment Applications Now Open

RISD focuses on every student, every teacher, every leader, every day – and the district’s North Star Goal of student academic growth is achieved through the opportunities and experiences offered at RISD schools. 2025-26 school year enrollment for families residing within RISD boundaries opened on Feb. 25.

Starting with the upcoming school year, RISD will consider applications for enrollment from families residing outside of RISD boundaries – a process known as open enrollment. The window for families who reside outside of RISD boundaries to submit an inter-district transfer application opened on April 17 and closes June 19.

Applications will be considered based on availability at requested schools, including factors such as building capacity, program/campus enrollment, growth projections, grade-level enrollment, and teacher/professional staff allocations. When considering space available, the process prioritizes existing RISD families who reside within district boundaries.

Approved open enrollment transfers are contingent upon transfer students maintaining expectations in academics, attendance, and discipline.
