Parent University – Understanding Autism

Please join us for “Understanding Autism: Socialization and Community Engagement” on January 15th at 6:00pm. This Parent University session is designed to help families navigate 6 general skills of socialization and community engagement.

We will:

  • Understand the skills needed for safe and appropriate socialization and community engagement. 
  • Learn how socialization and community engagement skills are learned. 
  • Learn ways to teach skills for social interaction including personal space, eye contact and turn taking.
  • Learn ways to teach skills for requesting assistance or expressing needs including asking for a break or asking for help in public.
  • Learn ways to teach skills for safely meeting basic needs in the community including using a public restroom or navigating the environment.

Equip yourself with the tools to boost your child’s confidence and safety. Attend this Parent University session to help bridge the gap between home learning and community life!
