Please join us for “Understanding Autism: Socialization and Community Engagement” on January 15th at 6:00pm. This Parent University session is designed to help families navigate 6 general skills of socialization and community engagement.
We will:
- Understand the skills needed for safe and appropriate socialization and community engagement.
- Learn how socialization and community engagement skills are learned.
- Learn ways to teach skills for social interaction including personal space, eye contact and turn taking.
- Learn ways to teach skills for requesting assistance or expressing needs including asking for a break or asking for help in public.
- Learn ways to teach skills for safely meeting basic needs in the community including using a public restroom or navigating the environment.
