The RISD Strategy & Engagement team was recognized recently with 22 gold and nine silver Star Awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association.

TSPRA’s annual awards provide recognition for the outstanding education communications and projects of its members. Independent judges evaluate each work and project based on set criteria, and they award gold, silver, and bronze star awards, as well as Best of Category, which RISD won four times.

RISD won Best of Category for Invitations for the district’s “Thank You for Rollin With Us” retirement parade invite, and the S&E team won Best of Category for a published print advertisement for “Congratulations RISD Class of 2021.”

Of the invitation, one judge said “The design of the postcard was fun and engaging. The message utilized lots of creativity and clarity of purpose. Highly successful/professional design.”

In the commemorative category, RISD won Best of Category for a “Celebrating National Food Month” flyer. One judge commented that the flyer “is a great effort and a great design. This looks refreshingly different from so many school posters; this looks like something you would see in a restaurant.”

In the category for print materials in a language other than English, RISD’s “Connect” magazine received the Best of Category recognition. “The magazine is beautifully designed,” according to one TSPRA judge. “Great use of an array of different information for a non-parent household that would still find of interest what the school district is doing with its tax dollars.”
