The Texas Education Agency has released the 2024–2025 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings. Richardson ISD (RISD) earned a rating of A = Superior, with a numerical score of 98 out of 100—the same high score the district received last year.
RISD received the maximum number of points on all indicators except for Indicator 11, where the district earned 8 out of 10 points. Indicator 11 evaluates whether the ratio of long-term liabilities to total assets is at a level that supports long-term solvency. To receive the full 10 points, this ratio must be 60% or lower. RISD’s ratio is 65%.It’s important to note that long-term liabilities for school districts primarily consist of bonds, which are repaid through future tax collections. However, these future revenues are not counted as part of total assets under the current reporting standards.
