She Won! Ruiz Named Texas Principal of the Year

Dr. Ruiz wins the HEB state Principal of the Year Award in San Antonio on May 3.

Fresh off being named RISD Elementary Principal of the Year, Bukhair Elementary principal Anabel Ruiz was named the Texas Elementary Principal of the Year winner in the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards this weekend in San Antonio.

Dr. Ruiz won $10,000 for herself and a $25,000 grant for Bukhair ES.

Congratulations to Dr. Ruiz and the entire Bukhair Elementary team!

Carolyn Bukhair Elementary principal Dr. Anabel Ruiz was surprised this week at school with news that she has been selected as a statewide Texas finalist for elementary principal of the year in the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. Ruiz was selected from among the thousands of statewide nominations received by the prestigious awards program.

As a finalist, she was presented with a personal check for $1,000 and another check for $2,500 for her school. Dr. Ruiz will now participate in the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony where a statewide winner will be announced on May 4 in Austin.

A huge congratulations to Dr. Anabel Ruiz and the entire Bukhair Elementary family!
