RISD schools and offices will be open Wednesday, Jan. 17, on a normal schedule.
While still very cold, Wednesday morning temperatures are forecast to be higher than Tuesday’s negative wind chills. Parents of RISD’s more than 10,000 bus riders and walkers are urged to ensure students are dressed warm enough if waiting at morning bus stops or walking to school. If necessary, families with limited transportation options are encouraged to take additional time in the morning to ensure their students arrive to school safely.
RISD facilities staff are working Tuesday to identify and repair cold-related damage or heating issues to ensure schools are ready for teaching and learning tomorrow.
No decision on inclement weather makeup days can be made until the winter season concludes. Stay tuned to district and school newsletters, websites, and social media channels for weather makeup information by early March.
